About PDS · Product specification

Self-adhesive films for surface protection, from the manufacturing process through to the end customer

PDS is the Martínez Navas SAS line of removable self-adhesive protective films. It goes on a surface that is already finished, stays through the fabrication, the assembly and the installation, and comes off without adhesive transfer within the exposure time specified for each reference.

Composition

Polyethylenes with German technology.

Pressure-sensitive adhesive film in low-density polyethylene with a water-based acrylic adhesive, for interior and exterior use. Made by POLI-FILM, in Germany. Recyclable, free of halogens and heavy metals.

No alteration of the substrate

Low-tack water-based acrylic adhesive. It does not change the colour, the gloss or the texture of the material it protects, and it does not react with painted, anodised or lacquered finishes.

Removal without adhesive transfer

Within the exposure time of the reference, the film comes off in one piece and without residue. Adhesive left behind means the reference was wrong or the exposure went outside specification.

Recyclable and mono-material

Low-density polyethylene free of halogens and heavy metals. It comes off as a single material, with no separation needed before disposal.

Choosing the reference

The reference is set by the substrate and by the exposure time.

Tempered glass, anodised aluminium, prepainted sheet and wood laminate take different adhesion grades. The expected exposure time sets the thickness and whether a UV filter or an HS version is needed. The table lists the highest-turnover references; the full catalogue runs past two hundred.

Highest-turnover references, shown as an illustration. The full catalogue runs past 200.

Supply protocol

Specification, trial on the client's material and dispatch.

Substrate specification

Four things are recorded: material and finish, expected exposure time, working conditions and quantity. From those come the reference, the thickness and the adhesion grade.

Prior trial on your material

The recommendations sheet requires a formal trial on the client material, under the normal conditions of the process, before purchase and before regular use. It is carried out with guidance from Martínez Navas SAS.

Cut to size and dispatch

Cutting to the width required —with an electric saw or through the cutting service— and nationwide dispatch, with three months of safety stock per client.

One page with what to keep in mind so the film performs: how to store it, how to prepare the surface, how to cut it and how to apply it with a laminator or by hand.

  • Storage: out of direct sun, no contact with the floor or the walls, no water, between 10 °C and 40 °C, maximum 5 boxes stacked and use within 5 months
  • Surface preparation: clean and dry, wiped down with a dry cloth to remove dust, grease and chemicals
  • Cuts to size, with an electric saw or through the Martínez Navas cutting service
  • Application with a laminator and application by hand, step by step
  • Sealing: the greater the pressure, the greater the adhesion, and always in the direction the roll unwinds
